You ever have one of those ‘off’ days? When you’re just kind of down for one reason or another? That was a bit of what today looked like for me. I was bummed about something that happened earlier this week and I’ve been working with the other person on a solution. Looks like we’re nearly there and I’ll be able to sleep tonight.
I was down though, so I sent a few emails. I didn’t send random emails to people I don’t know. I’ve spoken (through twitter or facebook at the very least) with nearly everyone on my newsletter. Instead of a list of people I’m trying to sell something to, I actually know most of them and have had conversations over a period time.
In the email, I included this cute picture of my youngest daughter, Brie, with chocolate chip cookies smeared on her face. You know what? I got the nicest emails in return and I’ve been replying to them ever since. I’ve had a huge transformation in how my day is going.
My advice: build relationships with people you can talk to instead of sell to. It will make all the difference in the world when you need someone to lean on.
What do you do when you’re down?
