What Makes Me Mad – The Best Question to Ask

I asked this question when I started my business. Then I decided to do something about it. It’s what keeps me going every day.

If you don’t have this same passion in your business, you’re going to run out of topics for your blog, and you’ll never be as profitable as you want to be.

So, what makes you mad? Comment and let’s talk about it.

People with Car Payments. Specifically young adults who have wrapped their identity (and their wallets) around something so insignificant. Then they complain about being broke. There are other similarly related subjects, but that one in particular. I was this person at one time. This “minute to-spend it” lifestyle, of buying things I couldn’t afford hedged me from making bigger more important decisions later.

I get so mad when I hear people talking about how tight their finances are one minute, and then the next minute they’re talking about the new laptop their husband just got or asking about a good deal for a used car for their daughter who just turned 16. Come on people! Wake up! You can’t spend your way out of a hole!

I also get mad about people who have no desire to improve themselves. They just go on day after day doing the same things over and over again and complaining about the same things day after day with no growth.

I guess really the first thing is an extension of the second if I really think about it. It just is in the specific area of their finances. They seem to have no desire to make a change in their financial position. They just want to continue to complain without growing.

I can tell Don. And you’re channeling that into something that help people!

I get mad when people make poor decisions in their life. Decisions that are irresponsible, or that could effect their families. They decide to do things that are short sighted, and may be even outright sin. (biblically speaking) I also get irritated when people complain about everything, but don’t make the necessary choices to either be content or make things better.

I hear you there Wes. So, are you doing anything about it?

The poor and incorrect information people are given about there finances by Bankruptcy attorneys and credit counselors. See people that have been talked into a bankruptcy instead of fighting through a short sale and changing to make it work and pay what they owe. They are given no hope and that is one of the worst things that someone can do to somebody.

I am so excited about what I get to do now with financial coaching and love it when someone is leaving my office and the say thanks I have hope that this can change and can turn around.

    What pisses me off:

1.) Business owners who approach social/relationship marketing in the same way as traditional push advertising–with the belief that more visibility will make up for a crappy product. Au contraire, mes freres.

2.) Talented people working in dead-end careers because the status quo has told them that the way to be successful in life is to go to college, get a “safe” (read: dead end) job, and work your way up the ladder until you can retire four (or five) decades later.

The unifying theme? That life, business, careers, and the status quo are on the eve of a revolution, and those who aren’t ready for the shift will be left high and dry.

My professional work addresses number one. My personal work addresses number two.

I love that you’re doing something about it Rob!

    Several things “make me mad.”
To put it very simply, I get mad when people don’t take advantage of the resources they should, and when they do take advantage of people or things they shouldn’t…

The things that fire me up mainly come down to ignorance (with no desire to cure it), misinformation, laziness and injustice.

Some examples, in no particular order:

Many people make basic errors when speaking or writing because they didn’t take advantage of the education that was available to them, and they have no desire to improve now.

People who have no right to be here have the gall to dictate to the rest of us how things must be.

Most Americans have food intolerances/sensitivities (especially to wheat and dairy) and have no idea. Their doctors, who took an oath to help them, aren’t. The agriculture and medical industries profit immensely from the consumption of wheat and dairy products and the illnesses that result.

People are not getting what they need to be healthy, and much of the time, doctors are treating the wrong things, in the wrong ways. It’s such a waste.

People do not understand how things work – diabetes and insulin, supply and demand, investments and dividends, just to name a few.

Too many people just don’t think. They go along with the crowd, swallow the junk, and perpetuate the misinformation. How many “forwards” full of lies have you seen, how many myths have you heard in your lifetime?

People think too small, and too narrowly. The example I see nearly every day is, “I don’t know anybody who needs a website.” They are thinking that the ONLY person who needs a website is the person who fits this picture they have in their minds of “business owner, young, tech savvy, and has mentioned to me that s/he wants a website.” Nope. Don’t know anyone, sorry. Of course not. They need to broaden their thinking – greatly – to include anyone who has a business, anyone who wants to have a business, stay at home moms and stay at home dads who might want to make a little (or a lot of) money, working parents who want to make extra money, anyone who has opinions and likes to share them, anyone who is looking for a job, or might end up looking for one sooner or later, a writer, an artist, a tattoo artist, a musician, a babysitter, a proud grandparent, someone who’s planning to get married, or someone who wants to go on a trip and write about it. The list could go on indefinitely.

That’s a great feeling, isn’t it Jeff? Thanks for being passionate and caring about others.

  • http://coachradio.tv/ Justin Lukasavige

Wow, what a list Jennifer! So, the question is, are you doing anything about this? Sounds like you’re plenty passionate.

It’s like young people don’t learn from their parents because their parents are doing it wrong! So, are you doing something about it Tony?

I hate seeing small business owners turning to debt to fix all of their problems!

  • http://coachradio.tv/ Justin Lukasavige

Oh, that’s a huge problem, isn’t it James? I know folks will do it right if
    they consult with you.

Seeing people wallow in mediocrity makes me mad. Great vblog! Now for the serious matter, is that an autographed Tribes on the wall behind you?

  • Wes Chadek

Right now, I encourage the opposite with those in my life. I share my opinion. I teach on personal accountability to the teens at church. I think this is also related to what I want to do as a free agent. What would you do about it?

  • http://coachradio.tv/ Justin Lukasavige

It is indeed. I think there are 7 or 8 books on the wall, all autographed
    David.
