Don’t Reinvent Forms – Download Them

I just came across this great website called Docstoc. More than 20,000,000 people each month download free professional documents.

Their lineup of forms includes business, tax, HR, real estate, and personal finance.

Especially when you’re new in business, the last thing you want to spend your time doing creating business tools from scratch.

Any resources you can recommend to save time creating?

Become More Productive by Tracking Your Time Automatically

I wrote a short post a few days ago about a program I ran across to track your time.  Then @jlhuge turned me on to something even better called Rescue Time.

Here’s a snapshot of what this program (I’m on the forever free version) tracks:

It not only tracks the websites I visit and categorizes whether they’re a good use of my time, neutral, or bad, but it also does the same with the programs I use.

It’s easy to customize a program, website or activity, so I can tell it whether it’s a good use for me or not.

Andy and I also did a self-employment show for the Free Agent Underground which we cleverly titled How to Manage Your Employees when You’re the only one.

Do you track your time? What have you found?

An Easy way to Track how You Spend Your Time

There’s a lot to do in a business, whether you’re starting one, reorganizing or trying to become more efficient.  I often suggest my clients track their time on a simple spreadsheet to see how they’re using the time they have.  After all, we all have only 168 hours per week.  No more, no less.  Becoming efficient is the key for a successful business.

toggl time trackerI just stumbled on this good looking tool called toggl.  It helps you track how you’re spending your time and looks pretty easy to use.  Check it out and let me know if you like.

Update: @jlhuge turned me on to a really cool download that I’ve been using and I love it! Check it out.

Do you have other suggestions?  Leave them in the comments.

Chris wrote in with some great questions:

  1. Time management — how do I build my business when I have 2 young kids at home who drain my energy?
  2. What did I do to build my business when I spent all that time in hotel room?
  3. What are some tips/suggestions regarding working from home?
  4. How to develop an economic model like Jim Collins talks about in his book Good to Great?
  5. What would it take to work with me?

I need help. If you’d like to be featured in our studio, send me a signed book cover, CD, DVD, something you made, etc. and I’ll hang it on our wall. Thousands of people will see it each month. It must be tasteful and something I support. Here’s our address.

Mentions during the show:

Free Agent Academy – the place to be surrounded with people who care about helping you become self-employed. We’ll help you in your endeavor.

Rick Caron is The Chief Connector and has been a guest on Past Due: Radio.

google voice – If I started out in business today, I’d sign up for this free service right away.

themarriagebed.com – Believe it or not, I used to jump into the financial section of the forum here and help people. It’s the same strategy I teach today in social media and it works. This website hasn’t been redesigned since I did that four years ago, but it’s a safe place.

google.com/analytics – Find out how many visitors you have and where they’re coming from.

Leroy pointed out this is a good option for an office, but you have to live in England.
