Yes I cenrtainly know you didn't support the comment on courage being the absence of fear from the point of your post but I was just musing out loud about the source of the comment after hearing the same comment mentioned serveral time over the last week and I was perplexed by it. Thanks

I didn't actually think courage is the lack of fear. As I've highlighted above, “Courage is taking action despite the fear.”

Your quote lines right up with it. I love it!

I've never actually ever heard any one describe courage as a lack of fear. Could you provide citations? It sounds like a rhetorical straw man argument just to set up make an obvious point.

I like what Aquinas in the 12th Century stated about Courage:
“We need courage to restrain our fears so that we might endure harrowing circumstances. Yet courage not only mollifies our fears, it also combats the unreasonable zeal to overcome them. An excessive desire to face fearful circumstances constitutes a kind of recklessness that can easily hasten one’s demise. Thus we need courage in order to both curb excessive fear and modify unreasonable daring (ST IIaIIae 123.3). Without courage, we will be either governed by irrational fear or a recklessness that eschews good counsel, making us vulnerable to harm unnecessarily.”

I think right now it's about clarification. I worry that i'm going to fall in to something over my head, or my abilities will be questioned by potential clients. If I can get really clear on my abilities, business model, the scope and limitation of the services that I want to offer and get a clear plan moving forward it will help overcome that. I think that getting clarity will be key for me which is why I've spent a lot of time on my SSP (but need to revise and clarify some).

My wife wants to me to break off and go straight full time in the business….sometimes I think her head needs examining BUT the same time she has a lot more faith then I do. I have more common sense……
