Jimmy: I purchased and read your book “Become a Coach”. Great book. I launched my financial coaching business a few months ago and I’m searching for my first client. I am doing everything I can to get clients. I write weekly articles, pass out business cards, and tell everyone I know, even strangers. The good news is I landed the opportunity to talk in front of the Financial Peace University class at my church on Dec 11th. The only issue is I’m kind of nervous and don’t know exactly what to say. Can you give me a few pointers on what I should and should not say to the group. The instructor told me there are 10 couples in the class. I Love the advice you give and the blog, thanks in advance for any help.

Pick a few points and don’t try to pack too much information in. They want hope, inspiration, and motivation more than anything. They already know what to do, so don’t teach, just lead. Open your talk up to Q&A.

Michael: You’ve no doubt been asked many times why you use the word ‘storywriter’ as a kind of tag line. But why do you use that? Is there a blog or podcast where you cover that question? I have a pretty good idea why but I’d be interested in hearing how you articulate that.

I’m officially launching a Board of Directors group. As soon as I did, five of the eight spots were immediately taken. There may or may not be a spot open, but complete the application if you’re interested in joining a future group.

Randy: I know I’m getting a fair number of readers to my website, but I can’t figure out how to convert those readers to subscribers, and even more importantly to me, convert subscribers to commenters/participants. I get very few comments, but I really want it to be more interactive and engaging. Do you have any suggestions on how I can do that? I believe that the more engaged people are, the more it will benefit them, and the more likely they are to spread the word. While we’re at it, do you have any other thoughts about the content, layout, readability, or anything else you might be able to share? Thank you! Keep up the great podcasts!

A friend and client recently went full time and asked me what to do about someone who wanted to work with him on Mondays. He usually reserves those days for family and other projects. I told him he needs to rearrange his schedule to meet with the guy.

Jason: It’s hard to pin down a good financial estimate for non-traditional businesses.  Even your coaching model, it’s almost like speculation or panning for Gold.  But Free Agent Academy HAD to have had a financial model in order to recruit good talent, so there must be a way of estimating these kinds of endeavors.  How to go about it?  Customer surveys? Experience?  Demand?
