Simple Way to get an Additional 4,600 Website Visits

Earlier this year I decided to schedule one tweet per day. I explain in the video below how to not be scuzzy when doing this; it’s the main reason I automate a maximum of one tweet each day.

Now that I’ve been doing it for a while it’s time to share results. Would you believe I sent over 4,600 visitors to the website because I automated just one tweet each day?

If you want to know how to do it, check out my tutorial on using socialoomph to schedule tweets. Need a Topic Members, read how I use this technique to create $200 – $400 per month.

How to Comment on a Blog Post and Why You Should Care

Looping back around - The JohnFlurry BlogTo comment or not to comment, that is the question.

You should care about a blog’s commenting system, especially if you leave comments. Now, if you’re posting just to leave a thought and don’t care about the outcome, this post won’t help you much.

But if you honestly care about connecting with people, pay attention and take action to do it better. If you’re going to take the time to comment on a post, I think you should also take the time to do it right.

Need some reasons to care?

  • You become known by the blog’s author
  • You become known to others in the blog’s community
  • Links to your website or social media profiles for readers to click visit
  • Become an expert on a topic

There are a many reasons to comment, but be sure you’re doing it the right way.

I Schedule My Tweets [How To]

clockThere, I’ve said it. Everyone says not to schedule your tweets and I’ve told my clients the same things.

But over the past few months I’ve been playing with scheduling on a very limited basis. For the first time today I shared my results with a client and I think it’s time to share them with you, too. About 20% of my daily traffic is due to these tweets, and I even make money directly from it.

Some of your best posts are hidden in the archives of your blog, aren’t they? I use a plugin called WordPress Popular Posts in the sidebar to keep some of the most popular stuff visible, but I’m only highlighting a few posts there.

What if you have a ton of great stuff? Is it lost forever?

Tweets, Likes, and Comments: Get Some

Lately I’ve been trying to find a correlation between tweets, Facebook likes, and comments on my posts. I’ve spent a few hours studying google analytics and I even put together this comparison sheet on my latest posts.

The sheet is sorted from highest number of comments to lowest. With only two exceptions, Facebook Likes are right in line with number of comments. Interestingly, the tweets are all over the place. In fact, the most tweeted post had the least number of comments on it.

The Meaning of Engagement

The most important thing I learned about engagement from studying my posts is that certain info is shared in certain ways.

A Surefire Way to Add Followers and Why I Won’t Follow You on Follow Friday are obviously both geared toward the twitter crowd.

My post announcing my move and 25 Things You Didn’t Know About Me were far more personal and more easily shareable on Facebook.

Perhaps the lesson here is to determine how you want your information shared, and then write for that platform. Judging by the technical nature of this post, my guess is that it will spread further on twitter than on Facebook.

A Surefire Way to Add Followers

If that title hooked you, you’re probably looking for the big secret, right? The secret is…be helpful. Really. That’s it.

Last week Liz Strauss followed me. I don’t automatically follow anyone back because I want to make sure they’re a real person and will be adding value to me.

It took me a few days to check Liz out and find that she was indeed a real person. Also, I wanted to see if she truly cared enough to keep following me, even if I didn’t reciprocate within 24 hours.

She passed that test, so I took a look at her website, and in fact, spent a lot of time poking around.

I sent her a direct message simply asking her how I could help her get the word out about some of the neat things she’s doing. She was obviously surprised that I took the time to do it, and she let all of her followers know how helpful I am.

Within 12 hours I had more than 30 new followers on twitter.

Twitter is not about numbers. It’s about engaging with the people who find you interesting enough to follow. Learn who those people are and connect with them.

HOW TO: Publish Your Videos Everywhere

I use a neat service called tubemogul when I upload all of my videos at Coach Radio.  Tubemogul stores my login credentials to all of the video sites I use and then sends my video to those sites (for free).  This is the best way to ensure your video is available where people will see it, without you spending too much time doing it.

What’s your favorite video site?

Get Found in Google Maps Without an Address

Google has upped their game again, now allowing people working out of their homes, to be listed in google maps without an address.  They’ve renamed their business feature to google places and now allow you to list a service area.

With this change there’s no reason not to be listed with google.  Get out there and be found!

How I Monetized Twitter

I was sitting down in the studio today and had a big realization . . . I just monetized twitter! There’s a lot of talk about how you can’t do that and I’m in the same camp at times. In this video I talk about how twitter relationships can lead to sales.
