Ask Me Anything

question markIf there’s on thing I don’t want to be, it’s unavailable and unapproachable. That being said, I receive hundreds of requests and questions each week, all begging for answers.

I don’t want to be that recluse guy who lives on  your street. You know the one; he has nice grass and yells at kids when they come in the driveway. You walk you dog down the other side of the street just to avoid a part in the curtains.

I’m your really nice, approachable neighbor. Not in a weird Mr. Rogers kind of way, but in a laid back, you can walk into my kitchen and grab anything you want out of the fridge, kind of way. Before we have that kind of relationship with, you need to know the unspoken rules. It’d be weird if I walked in your kitchen if you didn’t know me very well.

Here are those unspoken rules.

Radio

You can ask me pretty much any business question you want and I’ll answer it on Coach Radio. Here are the three options to submit a question:

  1. Call the voicemail hotline at (919) 355-8275. 24 hours a day you’ll go straight to voicemail, leave a question, and I’ll play it on the show.
  2. Record your question on your computer or phone and email it to me. This is the preferred method for the best audio quality.
  3. Send an old-fashion email (feedback@coachradio.tv). Remember to keep it brief, I’m doing a radio show not reading books on the air.

Blog

Especially if you’ve found your way here through google and have a question on something I’ve said in a show or in a blog post, leave it in the comments. I see every one of those and I pour through them almost every day. If you have a question I’ll answer it. You’ll also get the added benefit of some other really bright people jumping in the conversation. Make sure you subscribe to the blog because I’m probably answering questions you didn’t even know you had.

Quick Questions

I love when I get an email that starts with “quick question.” Ironically, the question usually isn’t very quick. If  you have a quick question, the quickest answer from me is usually through twitter. If I’m not following you back, shout at me.

Sharing Cool Things

People share the coolest things with me every day. Let’s not keep it to ourselves though, let’s share it with everyone! If you want to share something, post is to my facebook page. I’m not stingy and I want other people to share in the good stuff. They might even share something with you.

Email

I say this with a lot of love: email is not your best option. I do respond within 24 hours to nearly every email that comes in, but lately I’m pushing those limits. Email priority always goes to my clients first and everyone else second. Hey, if we were working together that’s what you’d want, right?

Your Own Advisory Board

You want really great advice from me and some of my best friends? Join us at the Free Agent Academy.  Members have nearly unlimited access to me and it’s a fraction of the cost of one-on-one coaching. We’ll lead you through a structure to find and make sure your idea fits and will be profitable. We’ll help you brand it, wrap a plan around it, launch a website, then market it. You can join us from anywhere in the world, and many of our members have.

A Jar of Peanut Butter

Ever just want to grab a spoon and sit down with a jar of peanut butter? Maybe that’s just me, but if it it’s you too, come on over. We’ll spend at least six months getting to know each other and you might even decide to come stay with my family for a night. The fridge is yours.

How do you like to ask and receive questions? I need your thoughts to make sure I’m on track here.

I love that you are so open to answer peoples questions/comments. Sometimes for me I feel like I may hold back asking people things because I feel like I am bothering them. But I would definitely sit down and enjoy some peanut butter with you Justin.

Why are Peanuts called Nuts, when they’re really not Nuts? They’re legumes.
Also, why is Peanut Butter so addictive and why does it go soooooo good with Chocolate? #REESES

I feel the same way, Ryan, and I really love when people ask me stuff. I think it’s easy to hesitate if you’re unclear of the way to do it. Thus the post. :)

Fantastic questions to which I have no answer, Jason. I suppose it’s the same reasoning behind the Grape Nuts cereal. What a let down the first time you open that box.

When I was a kid I loved that guy that always yelled at the kids in his yard. I always found goor reasons to end up in his yard.

    How can I help?

I hated that guy. We lived on the end of dead end street. People would turn around in his driveway (across the street from ours) and he would famously run out of his house and yell at them. One time he build a barricade out of paint cans and 2×4′s. Funny, but seriously wrong.

    Hey Justin,
Nice work on the site. It’s looking incredible.
I told you I’ve been working with Carlos Dinares, the rowing coach. During today’s workout he took me to a depth of pain — and then reward — that I’ve not previously experienced as an athlete. (Rowing can do that, I’m learning). He then blogged about the role and importantce of a coach, and I thought you’d enjoy it. Here’s the link: http://bit.ly/fcTlCk.
Keep up the great work, man.

Great video, Brandon. Sounds like you’re getting a ton of great stuff from working with Carlos!

Hard to pin down a good financial estimate for “non-traditional businesses”.  Even your coaching model.  It’s almost like speculation or panning for Gold.  But Free Agent Academy HAD to have had a financial model in order to recruit good talent, so there must be a way of estimating these kinds of endeavors.  How to go about it?  Customer surveys? Experience?  Demand?

  • http://coachradio.tv/ Justin Lukasavige

Great question, Jason. Can I spend some time talking abou this on an upcoming show?

  • Anonymous

That’s why I asked.  Would be great.  Basically looking to get into the minds of non-traditional thinkers.  Would mean sharing your “special sauce” though. :)

  • http://coachradio.tv/ Justin Lukasavige

There’s no special sauce, so I’ll share it all.
