Susan Snyder lives in Omaha, NE and helps her clients get the most from their technology.  She has no clients in Omaha; they’re spread out throughout the country.

Susan’s general rule – don’t do advertising.

Biggest mistake  – opened a storefront training center and advertised.  It didn’t fit her lifestyle with her family.

Susan’s biggest challenges in starting and running her business has been her own mindset.  Her mindset had been that she’s just a mom and shouldn’t be growing something bigger.

Her advice to stay-at-home parents who are trying to figure out what to do after the kids leave – don’t be afraid to try new things.

How she’s getting the word out: she takes great care of her clients and they spread the word.  Social media is a big key and that’s all built on referrals and relationships.

During our conversation, Susan mentioned a few times that you need to have a plan.  She doesn’t like handcuffs so plans loosely but has a road map.

The Lost Art of Creation

potterRemember when imagination and creativity used to involve putting things together with your hands? We used to build castles in the sand, cars out of building blocks, and forts out of blankets and pillow. Now it usually involves a mouse or touch screen.

I love technology. Probably more than the next guy. But I wonder if we’re missing out at times.

What do you think?
