I love the idea of giving that book away Mike.

What a great story on the spreading of your ideas!

The Book Smith site is pretty cool. That's a really clever idea.

Personally, I did convert my blog content (on my own, not through Book Smith) into a book for a couple of good reasons.

1. As newer blog content appears, the older stuff disappears. It's still there in the archives, but it's not seen as frequently. Yet it's probably still great content. Putting it into a big gives that content new life.

2. In my case, I'm not selling the book. It's a freebie and can help you stand out from your competitors. But selling the book is a great idea, too.

Funny thing... my free book was found by someone in Australia. (I'm in the U.S.) We talked on the phone and now I'll be speaking at one of his quarterly business and marketing conferences in Australia next year. The topic, strangely enough, will be about where you can reuse content.

So that free book of repacked blog content has opened up a wonderful opportunity for me.

And that's just one example. In a similar vein, someone could use the book as a lead-in to get speaking gigs at local service clubs. The possibilities are endless.

The point being, though, that a book filled with content you've already written helps to cast you as an expert in your field and open up new doors.
