Questions answered during today’s show:

Dave – media tutorials, drop-down

Brent – filtering clients and niching what you do

Dallon Christensen says “Justin, I liked all of your qualities of a successful coach.  I would also add “creativity” as a quality.  While all good coaches have solid principles as the basis of their coaching practice, the best ones can use those principles and adapt them to their clients’ specific needs.  This helps the client take ownership of the relationship and make them feel like the coach is working for them instead of just offering a set formula.”
This is in response to a blog I wrote on the Four Qualities to look for when Hiring a Coach.

Intention + Mechanism = Results
Why most businesses use this formula for their marketing and why it’s wrong!

“Don’t go out and find a client tomorrow. Go out today and find a client to work with 3 months from now.”

Hey, I didn't hear you say that (“Don’t go out and find a client tomorrow. Go out today and find a client to work with 3 months from now.”), that's my quote! KIDDING, great quote from a great show, authored by a great friend and mentor. Rock on brother!

    Justin,

You made the point that Twitter users who fall into that “less than 10 updates” category are wasting time.

Twitter is a social MEDIA tool. Some users choose to use it to simply consume media. If that's what the user is going for, great! I'm sure those are the folks who don't talk to their television sets or their newspapers, either ;)

I, for one, yell at my TV all the time.

Great point Rob. I think you're right on, there are some folks out there who use outlets like twitter just to consume. I know they're far and few between. I do this on a number of places where I don't interact much.

I think the majority of these cases are people jumping online and trying to sell their stuff to people they don't even know.

Do you still have a good relationship with your TV? I've noticed they'll usually stick with you through a lot of yelling, just like pets. But I've noticed wives don't seem to be that way.

Definitely. Too few people pay attention to the “social” part of social media tools. No strategy. No relation. They just approach the tools as advertising platforms and wonder why no one follows them.

I ask them, “how often do you sit down and read the Yellow Pages?”

And honestly, the TV and I don't see each other much anymore. Don't tell, but I'm madly in love with my office computer right now. Dual monitors, desk… So many perks.
