Serendipity is a word that is cropping up over and over for me lately. Here’s the latest example:

On my To Do list today were, among the tons of other stuff I’m trying to accomplish, “Mow Grass” and “Listen to some Coach Radio”. So I figured I’d multitask a bit and do both at the same time. While listening to another program, Justin mentions getting people to go back into your archives and check out your earlier material so I decided to do just that. Episode 6 here caught my eye and so I just gave it a listen and wow…very powerful.

No sooner did I finish it than I was contacted by a friend who is going through a rough time and probably needs some coaching. And all I could hear in my head was Justin saying, “This is why I’m in business. God puts people in our path that need help and that’s why we’re here.”

What a great message and thanks so much for your program, Justin.

After I waded through the “ranting” , I came out with some great additions to my swipe file to use in my own coaching.

“You need to be profitable so you can help others” really hit the mark.

I agree that Dave became very rich as a result of helping people. I spoke to a group of 100 business people last week and I told them money is a byproduct of doing a good job and helping others. Frankly, if you don't do a good job and you don't help, you won't make any. That's not withstanding the people scamming others. But, I don't think they'll be doing it very long. That's evidenced by all the financial advisers in jail as of late.

I can tell you first hand (as can Archie) that's Dave's Company, Lampo, is not a scam. We've both used his materials for years and have witnesses many families who have changed their lives as a result.

Dave Ramsey got wealthy simple because he chose to share his lifes experiences with us so we won't have to make the same mistakes he did. Sure, he has made a lot of money of his products, but 100% of his wealth has came to him as aresult of his heart being in the right place. Just work at one or two of his live events and you find out just how much stuff he gives away to folks that truly need them.
Check into his company a little, and spend a little time with Dave's team and you'll see exactly what I am talking about. Dave has to make money to stay in business, but his focus is more in the direction of helping folks, rather than on money.

Ignorance? Right. You are showing yours if you deny Dave Ramsey got rich by selling his products. Where else is his revenue, and the revenue to support his entire staff if not from selling products and coaching.

That statement is NOT lacking in substance at all. It is a true fact. Dave Ramsey got rich selling products. Unequivocal!

Your 'attitude' was showing way to much in your comment. If you'd stop sipping the koolaid, you might find out WHY people make that true statement, and show them some real reasons on how you can help them improve their lives.

There is something grand and noble in helping others - also a true fact. But denying that people who have helped others get control of 'out of control finances didn't make money off the process is just denying the truth.

I like Dave Ramsey, and think he's done lots of great things to help many many people. He's also become extremely wealthy through doing so. Is it a scam, probably not. But there are those shady characters out there who have perpetrated scams on hundreds of thousands of families in the name of 'financial counseling/coaching/planning, etc.)

So cut the folks some slack. Don't deny the truth, or they will no longer trust anything else that comes out of your mouth no matter how helpful or accurate it is.

This is very helpful to both coaches and clients as well. I can't count the times I have heard folks say “yeah, that's how Dave Ramsey got rich, off selling his products.” How much more void and lacking of substance can a statement be?
Derek handled this very very well. If it is ok I will archive this recording for use when this question is ask of me with future clients. You know, folks just don't know what all there is to Financial & Career Coaching. Ignorance can result in poor quality standards of life.
